"Think acoustic Americana with Brazilian bossa nova. Drink a caipirinha, and enjoy the sounds that originated in warmer climates."
~ The L Magazine

“Completely Refreshing... Lyrically brilliant… If Wisnia’s sampling of lush, complex songs are any indication of what’s to come, listeners will be waiting eagerly for more." ~ Alyssa Rashbaum, music critic for SPIN, VIBE, and Rebel Spirit Music

"Gloriously summery jazz-soul fusion, awash with shiny pianos and smooth vocals – a little like an acoustic Maroon 5, but with more Bossa Nova, more attitude, and more talent in his little finger."
~ Chris Merriman, Subba Cultcha
Born and raised just outside Philadelphia, Singer/Songwriter Avi Wisnia presents an eclectic mix of refreshingly original songs, finding inspiration in classic Brazilian bossa nova, acoustic American folk, 1950’s west-coast jazz, and contemporary pop.  Avi released his debut EP in 2007 to rave reviews, with one critic crowning him the "male Norah Jones."   Now, his debut full-length studio album, "Something New", recorded with Grammy-winning producer Glenn Barratt, positions Avi as a formidable talent and a true artist on the rise.  Imagine a performer who seamlessly fuses the subtle stylings of Ms. Jones, the piano virtuosity of Ben Folds, and the heartbreaking melodies of John Mayer. A wordsmith as well as a composer, Avi's clever lyrics give a knowing nod to his contemporaries, while his smooth vocals assure you that this is truly something new.  Avi showcases his own music with unexpected arrangements, and he experiments with contemporary pop tunes from artists like Lauryn Hill, Bjork, Wilco and The Cure, stripping them down, taking them apart and reviving them with a dynamic new spirit. He has performed at prestigious venues like Lincoln Center and renown festivals such as South by SouthWest.  In addition, Avi believes in creating community through music events.  He is the ensemble director for the New York Megaphonica and, in 2008, he created The No Brainer benefit concert, which continues to raise funds and awareness for the National Brain Tumor Society.

Eccentric Record Producer Plays Entire Beatles Catalog on a Ukulele

Just got an email from recently engaged old friend, Alan Cohen Experience, about a new article on producer Roger Greenawalt and his Beatles Complete on Ukulele project. The funny thing is that both the picture and video have me!! Sweeeeet.

Chris Caesar by Daniel Harris

Today is the 26th Vaginal Exodus Celebration of Christopher "Chris" Caesar.

If you see him, give him a kiss. Anywhere.

I have known "Chris" loosely since 1990 when we played on the Monroe-Woodbury (NY) soccer team, The Defenders. We were six. In the fall of 2002 we lived down the hall from one another; that was our freshman year of college. We have been lovers ever since. I love this man. Sometimes, when I'm listening to Of Montreal and that song, "Tim I Wish You Were Born A Girl" comes on, I change "Tim" to "Chris". Chris is my muse.

Happy Birthday, "Chris." You are beautiful, no matter what "they" say.
